Latest News on the World Amateur Handicap Golf Tournament

The World’s Largest 19th Hole is an essential part of the World Am experience, and the event’s nightly party will be bigger and significantly better this year.

The resurgent 19th Hole will reclaim the Sheraton ballroom in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, meaning the tournament will again be able to utilize all 120,000+ square feet the building has to offer.

“The World Largest 19th Hole is vital to the tournament experience, and we are excited about what we have on tap this year,” said Jeff Monday, World Am tournament director. “We have made it a priority to expand the size and offerings at the 19th Hole, and I think tournament participants will be pleased.”

The Sheraton ballroom will allow greater flexibility throughout the 19th Hole. Featured speakers, instructors and live music acts will appear on the ballroom stage, a change that will provide more room in the main hall for exhibitors, food stations, and golf related activities.

The rejuvenation of the 19th Hole extends far beyond additional square footage.

Tournament staff is working tirelessly to double the number of exhibitors, providing a golf show feel to the convention center’s main hall.

The number of food serving stations will more than triple with different types of heavy hors doeuvres offered throughout. Of course, tournament favorites pizza and ice cream will again be available.

Entry for the 30th annual Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship opens on April 3, and the early entry cost for all golfers is $450. Your entry fee will include four rounds at a different Myrtle Beach golf course each day, entry into the World’s Largest 19th Hole, and a value-packed gift bag (more on that next week!).

The early entry price, a $100 savings off the regular $550 cost, will run through May 15, so make sure you get signed up early and immediately enjoy the perks of playing in this year’s World Am!

World Am players will receive a free My Pro To Go lesson upon registration.

The 30th annual Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship will begin accepting entries on April 3, and tournament organizers are doing everything possible to make sure participants bring their ‘A’ game to Myrtle Beach this August.

When players register for the World Am, which will be played August 26-30, they will receive a free golf lesson compliments of My Pro To Go, an instruction app created by GolfTEC—the world leader in golf improvement—and Sports Illustrated Golf Group.

The free lesson is part of the player gift bag, but it will be redeemable immediately upon entry.

“My Pro To Go” is a smartphone app and the free lesson will be provided by one of GolfTEC’s more than 550 Certified Personal Coaches. GolfTEC boasts a 95% success rate from its hundreds of thousands of students.

Getting the free lesson is as easy as: 1) Taking a smartphone video of the swing from front and side views; 2) Sending the video to “My Pro To Go” through the app or website; 3) Receiving a video swing lesson and drill back from a GolfTEC coach within 48 hours.

The lesson, which would typically cost $39.95, will be saved on the phone and GolfTec’s website, allowing players to reference the tutorial long into the future.
