The World Golf Hall of Fame Awaits!

World_Golf_Hall_of_Fame_Exterior.jpgA spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame has long been beyond imagination for players that didn’t share the talent of guys like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson. But that is changing, and the Golf.com World Am could be your ticket to golf immortality.

The World Golf Hall of Fame is launching a Hole-in-One Registry this month, and any player that makes a hole-in-one at the World Am will receive a commemorative brick on the Wall of Champions and  be  entered into the database, both of which will be permanently displayed at the Hall of Fame museum in St. Augustine, Fla.

The display will include a history of the hole-in-one and an interactive, electronic directory (where your name and ace will be recorded), as well as historical information about any hole-in-ones recorded by HOF members.

“We think golfers will think it’s cool that their hole-in-one will be part of the registry alongside one hit by Gary Player or Nick Price,” Mary Altman, the WGHOF’s director of marketing, said. “Individual golfers can stand alongside our members. It’s a unique opportunity.”

Any player that registers his or her ace will also receive a commemorative certificate, a WGHOF Hole-in-One Club Pin, WGHOF Hole-in-One bag tag, and a signed photo of a hall of fame member.

The intent of the registry is to raise money to support the Hall of Fame. It’s $75 for the VIP hole-in-one registration, (the World Am is covering the fee for tournament rounds), but a $25 program that includes a spot in the database, the pin and bag tag are also available.

The program will be pre-populated with holes-in-ones recorded by HOF members and during PGA Tour play. The registry can be retroactively joined by the public. If you had a hole-in-one at any time in the past, you can make the $25 or $75 (tax deductible) donation and have your accomplishment immortalized.

Nick Price, a 2003 WGHOF inductee who has 10 aces in his career, is the program’s official ambassador.

A hole-in-one won’t be the only opportunity for World Am players to make the trek to the WGHOF. One of the event’s random drawings will be a pair of tickets to the 2011 WGHOF induction ceremony with VIP seating, entry into the Gala, and a two-night stay at the Renaissance Resort.

same question as joe vanderbrook and who's picture do we get? Can I choose a person such as Arnold Palmer?

Joe - we have not launched the registry yet, but hope to by the end of this month...the website will be www.halloffameholeinone.org.

We are working on a temporary page where you can leave your name and email address so we can contact you when the registry goes live.

Look forward to seeing your name with Gary Player's!

Are you maintaining an email list to keep hole-n-oner's updated on the launching of the registry. I gather that we can't register during the World Am Tour, is that correct?

Mike,

The registry will be maintained at the World Golf Hall of Fame, and you will need to register through them (unless you get an Ace at this year's tourney and we will take care of it!).

The following is a message left by Mary Altman from the WGHOF:
