Participating in the world am is something not just for me but for my parents. My father was always so proud to go with my cousin, uncle and me to play golf. He couldn't play himself due to losing his left hand years earlier and he always was there for me to coax me on. He actually tried to play a couple of times and just couldn't do it but would tag along. He was an inspiration to me and my mother was always so proud that I would try and try. She told me that " you don't have to be good just as long as you try your best. Both my parents are gone now with me losing my mother earlier this year and my father a couple of years earlier but I play this frustrating game as a tribute to them and their no quit attitude. Even after surgery on my back I still pushed through to get back where I felt the proudest and that was where I knew they are are watching and telling me to keep trying. Some of the guys I play with wonder why I still play and I always think this one's for you guys (mom and dad).

I have played in approx 15 WAHC events over 20 years. Some years i completely missed the tourney due to injuries or misfortune.Every year it seemed something unusual would happen, many times 1 bad early round out of 4, would prevent me from finishing higher than 15th which was my best until 2009.
Last year I played my best golf the first three days and found myself in second place entering my final flight round and playing with the leader, trailing him by 2 shots. On the third hole he holed an ACE and had a 4 shot lead. My thoughts were "well I'm ging to play well and not let one round do me in again". I steadily got back into it and won my flight by 2 shots gaining 6 shots on him over the last 9 holes to play in the championship round for the first time in 15 tries. Just winning my flight and playing at the Dunes in the finals was the highlight of my 25 years golfing experiences and I have many of them having played many well known courses around the country.
