Pelz_head_shot.jpgThe number of prominent personalities that have committed to attend this year’s Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship continues to grow. Two weeks after the announcement of David Feherty headlining the 19th Hole entertainment comes news that Dave Pelz, one of the game’s foremost instructors and researchers, will be at this year’s event.

Pelz, who will be at the 19th Hole all four nights, will be a featured speaker in addition to having a booth setup at the nightly expo. Pelz, who is Phil Mickelson’s short-game guru, is one of the game’s most recognizable teachers and a pioneer with his research driven analysis.

Long before “Moneyball” became the rage in baseball, Pelz was using statistical analysis to determine what golfers of all skills levels struggled with and excelled at. Over the years, the World Am has been one of Pelz’s primary research tools because it provides him with the ability to study a wide range of players in a competitive environment.

Best of all for World Am players, you could be Pelz’s next star pupil. Pelz and Golf.com have partnered to launch the “What’s Your Major” essay contest. The winner of the contest will receive enrollment in a three-day Dave Pelz Scoring Game School, a personal preparation session with Pelz at the location where the winner’s major will be played, tickets to one of the 2011 majors and more!

To win the “What’s Your Major” contest, you must submit an essay detailing the biggest event you play in each year (we’d suggest the World Am!) and what it would mean to you to win.

Pelz’s articles in Golf Magazine in the coming months will focus on how to improve your practice sessions and have your game peak for your most important event.

Feherty, Pelz and Golf Channel personality Charlie Rymer have all committed to attend this year’s event.
